GRANICE LOOKOUT, PŘEMYSLOVCŮ STREET

GRANICE LOOKOUT, PŘEMYSLOVCŮ STREET

- Inside the town, yet in the countryside –
At the end of Přemyslovců Street, in front of the former Přemyslid castle, near the Minorite Monastery (now South Moravian Museum), there is one of the most beautiful lookouts in Znojmo. Deep down you will see the curved ravine of Granice Valley with its forest park, which you may enter right from the lookout. Opposite there is the dominant St Hippolytus’ Church and the adjacent Monastery of the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star. Nearer, on the edge of the valley, you can see the oval St Anthony of Padua’s Church which you can reach by climbing up the Way of the Cross (starting down by the Granice brook). More to the left, there is St Elias’ Chapel and the homonymous rock below, on which the bizarre Villa Krammer is hung. Behind it a part of the Dyje canyon is visible. Quite on the left, there is Znojmo Castle, the oldest stone fortification on the Dyje River, and quite on the right you can admire the Functionalist Villa Mareš.
